I started cupping, consistently for over two months. That’s right, consistently. Since I shattered my elbow I needed to find natural ways to manage pain, stress, swelling and toxins. Cupping was just what I needed.
*buys cupping kit, feels energized*
I bought myself a kit on Amazon and use it on my arm about 4-6x a week. The more I do it, the less bruising occurs! How cool is that?
So what is cupping and all the fuss?
Cupping has actually been around forrrreevver through traditional Chinese Medicine. Think of it as a reverse message! The cups create suction by pulling the muscles and skin up, whereas a massage applies pressure to the muscles.
Although there is no scientific evidence in the benefits of cupping, it has helped decrease my swelling and aid in blood flow. Do what feels best for your body.
There are two types of cupping I use:
- Fixed cupping– the cups are placed in the designated area and do not move until the time is up. For my injury I only leave them on for about 5 minutes, 5 minutes is all you need to see real benefits. If you decide to buy a kit, first ask a professional what is right for you.
- Moving Cupping– used with an oil or cream the cup is moved around the area, continually pulling up your skin as it moves around. I used it on my elbow scar to help make it more pliable.
All the fuss is because it works. Ask all the professional athletes and celebrities who are big advocates. Jennifer Aniston, Lady Gaga, and Michael Phelps. Or just ask me ?
Why do cupping? And why consistently?
After having my second elbow surgery I wanted to get the swelling down asap, cupping definitely did the trick! It also helped increase circulation, which lowered the swelling and decrease pain because of the increased blood flow and my body’s ability to heal the area better.
The more I do the cupping, the less toxins I have in the area as well. It can help prevent (decrease or lessen) sickness, such as colds, flu, muscle pain, allergies, anxiety and helps break down scar tissue. So… you name it and cupping seems to help. Sign me up! ?
This is the exact cupping set I bought on Amazon. I purchased plastic because it was less than $20 and from my experience, it works great! They say glass cups are better… so if you have ? to drop, by all means do it.
Alright my peeps, who’s cupping this week? Can’t wait to hear what you think! Please comment or DM me on Instagram @changebeautiful.
