“A nail is driven out by another nail; habit is overcome by habit.” -Erasmus, you nailed that right on the head. Jokes over.

listen to your body
I read a quote the other day that said “listen to your body… and people act like that’s easy!” The quote was right, it’s not easy. Why? Because most of us are going through life not knowing what it feels like to FEEL GOOD! If you’re depressed, anxious, sad, or any other negative feeling, it’s probably because you aren’t listening to your body. If you’re looking to be healthier, changes don’t need to be drastic but they do need to be made.
get up early
I love getting up before the rest of the world, it helps me feel super productive & sets the mood for the rest of the day.
I also love smashing a workout in the am and getting up early allows me to do that! Plus, it gives me a energy to dominate the rest of the day– which leads to better decision making. Especially when it comes to food choices. Speaking of which:
eat the rainbow
When you eat real foods, you feel better. Period. I am mostly paleo based – diet typically includes vegetables, fruits, nuts, roots, and meat while excluding foods such as dairy products, grains, sugar, legumes, processed oils.
Curious what I eat in a day? Read it here.
I used to follow the 80/20 rule. Eat super clean 80 % of the time & 20 % of the time (which def fluctuated) and then eat fun food- like cheeseburgers, burritos, pizza, flatbreads & chips! But now, I don’t need to follow that rule because I’ve learned to listen to my body. I eat the foods I want, when I want. Do what is best for you and allows your body to get the nutrients it thrives off 😉
take time to prioritize & plan
My grandpa used to tell me “plan your work for the day, then work your plan.” I listened. How can you do it? Time blocking.
Time blocking? What is that?
It’s a productivity “hack” that helps you make the most of your day by assigning very specific tasks to specific blocks of time. Here’s a peek into my time blocked schedule:
♡ 11 – 11:30 AM: drive to physical therapy while listening to health & marketing podcasts
♡11:30 AM –2 PM: physical therapy
♡2:30-3:30 PM: prep & eat a nourish bowl
♡3:30-4:30 PM: work on website
♡4:30-6PM: hike torrey pines with arm brace
♡6:00 – 7:00 PM: write blog post
Time blocking is also good for adding “me time.” Make yourself a priority. It’s so important to make time doing things you love, building your hobbies and giving back to what sets your soul on fire.
carry water bottle wherever you go
This might be THE most important! My skin thanks me and so does my energy levels and hunger pains 😉 Staying hydrated will also help increase circulation, reduce inflammation & fight off germs. Plus it’s the key to looking younger.
tip– drink at least half your body weight in water a day. If you’re a 150 lb female, drink 75 oz of water each day.
